• Barney’s Barrel
This Funny Fun Foto is based upon the reality that I started my big children’s outreach events in this Barrel. For years, I ran down the isle wearing this barrel. Then I proceded to humorously take it off. I had the interior of the barrel lined with all kinds of pockets. The barrel became my table, prop and hiding place for all the visuals that illustrated my Bible message. I often would tell the story of Barney’s Barrel, the same story, that was told to me as a child.
Looking back, I often felt very foolish doing this, particularly in worship services, but it was fun and memorable for the children. This Barrel, for sure, gave me a rather unique identity in children’s work. For twenty-five years this Barrel became my signature prop. I even designed a special Barrel that would come apart, so I could travel on a plane with it.

Love the barrel idea. Do you have more pictures you could share? How about the inside view of the barrels?

Todd, I do have more barrel pictures, but they are not really ready to add to the site, but with your interest, I may work on adding more on it sooner, than later. I have made a number of props that are related to barrels. Maybe I will introduce them over some time. I am just busy trying to establish the number of categories that I can build for the site, It is hard to go really deep into anything now. The tension is between the old and new. As you may have realized, I am such a newbie with blogging that I am kind of feeling my way along to build an interesting and informative site that represents what I have been and am currently about. Thanks for looking in on my early efforts, check back as I am working intently on this site. Barney

I still remember this from when you were a kid. I remember a few kids saying you were naked in the barrel… whew! We were relieved when you weren’t! 🙂
