When my wife Sharon spotted this Brunch with Bob opportunity at the UCLA Countrywide Classic Tennis Tournement, she just knew that I would love it. So I invited one of my “Bob” friends, Bob DeKlotz, to join me for Brunch. Bob and I usually have breakfast every Wednesday morning anyway, (we have been doing this for many years). So it was easy to think that we could just go to UCLA on our normal day to have the brunch and watch some great tennis afterwards. We both like to play and watch tennis.

So what was Brunch with Bob all about?Well, Bob Kramer, the son of the famous tennis player Jack Kramer, has been the Tournament Director for the last 25 years. So Brunch with Bob was the first annual Fund-Raiser Brunch with the Tournament Director on Senior Citizen’s Day at the Countrywide Classic Tennis Tournament (a non-profit USTA Southern California Section). You have to be really old to participate, ha!

It was a delicious catered brunch, and Bob Kramer showed up and led a discussion with SCTA staff about various League opportunities.

This was followed the guest appearances of tennis legend Justin Gimelstob,

and Jimmy Aries who each allowed a photo op for Bob and I.

Then there was a Raffle Drawing for some cool tennis stuff. But the featured gift was a Coby 7 inch Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player with Swivel Screen. Guess who won the drawing? Me!

Can you believe it? I actually won this DVD Player! It was especially made for the Countrywide Classic, with the logo on the top cover. The screen can swivel all the way around and close with the screen showing up on top, very compact for traveling. I am guessing that it is worth more than an a $100.

Then we strolled out into the Tennis Stadium and we were offered a free picture by Olympus, one of the sponsors of the event. So here is our posed photog. With this enlarged racket and ball, we concluded, that they would seriously improve our game. We each were given a copy at their exhibit booth. Kool!

Then we went to watch some really fine tennis. Because this was the opening match of the day, not many were there yet, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves, not really, but there were a lot of empty seats. As the afternoon progressed, it soon filled up. It was a great time, we made the effort to go and what a treat it turned out to be for both of us.
