Bathtub

2. “You Can’t Catch Fish in the Bathtub!”

If you want to catch “little wigglers,” you have go where the fish are. Having significant “fishing pools” for catching little ones for Jesus means you first have to do some deliberate demographics in your towns and communities to determine where the children are located. Then, you have to determine just how you might reach out to those families with young children. These are the beginnings of a “child-bridge strategy.”

This presupposes a programming methodology that may appear to be somewhat a “trial and error” approach, until you discover what works for you and your ministry. Some churches have started with bussing kids, neighborhood clubs, house-to-house visitation, publicity campaigns, felt-need programming (i.e., tutoring, after-school care, latch-key programs) and sports programs, etc. All this to say, “You just can’t wait for the children to come to you!” The emphasis is “seeking and finding.” Let’s go fishing!
