Leaders: Strategic Planner #5

For me a strategic planner in leadership is exemplified by the ability to see beyond the ordinary, to envision opportunities inherently present to you, but not obvious to all. Therefore, the strategic leader creates a plan to implement this insight and is able to lead his/her team “to raise the bar” for accomplishment. This requires a prayerful, but “studied approach” to your ministry.

Here are my Six Tips to be more of a strategic leader:

1. Evaluate what your ministry with view to learning from your experience. Do this in written form.

2. Improve upon your past performance and programming. Be willing to add to or master your skill sets.

3. Experiment with your present paradigms, your willingness is the first step in leading change.

4. Mobilize your leadership team to work towards accomplishing your vision. Organize, train and support your team.

5. Interventions: being willing to get outside opinions, consultation, research, feedback and even some coaching from experienced leaders.

6. Lastly, but clearly the most important, Pray and seek God to know what God’s strategic plans are for advancing your ministry. A Day Away works. Write down what He tells you and attempt to obey it.

Leadership Qualities This is a new series to discuss some basic qualities of leadership and how it might apply to those in children’s ministry.
