The Butterfly Effect, How your Life Matters  (Book Review)

By Andy Andrews, published by Simple Truths, 2009, 109 pages, Thomas Nelson (an easy read, lots of photos too)

The Butterfly Effect is an unforgettable story about how our world is an incredible life of permanent purpose. It’s about how every move we make and every action we take, matters not just for us, but for all of us…for all time.

In 1963, Edward Lorenz made a presentation to the New York Academy of Sciences and was literally laughed out of the room.

His theory called the butterfly effect, stated that a butterfly could flap its wings and set air molecules in motion that in turn would move other air molecules – which would then move additional air molecules – eventually becoming able to influence weather patterns on the other side of the planet. For years this theory remained an interesting myth. In the mid 1990s, however, the butterfly effect was proved to be accurate, viable and worked every time. The Butterfly Effect has become the Law of Sensitive Dependence Upon the Initial Conditions. (this is interesting)

The Butterfly Effect illustrates the unique power of the individual. There are several notable examples given in the book. It underscores that we have been created as one of a kind…to make a difference. So the littlest thing we might do now, can and usually does, effects things later in dramatic and deliberate ways. We have the power to change our world. What we do with our life matters today leaving a legacy for the future.

I recommend this thought provoking book. It could set you on an deliberate path to realize your permanent purpose too.
