• Thanksgiving Turkey Lesson
This Thanksgiving Turkey is a lesson on thankfulness. This has been the Kinard tradition for Thanksgiving. This flannel-graph board has a turkey mounted on it, without the feathers. Our guests pick a subject/feather that they are thankful for. Then each person shares with the family/group the specific thing in that category that they are thankful for and why.

Their feather on the Turkey until all the feathers completed all the subjects. Of course, I would ask for the feathers in the order I needed to complete the turkey.
You can see, how the feathers can be positioned on the Turkey, the board is three by four feet, so it is a good visual for a large group. I have also used this visual in my children’s ministry to supplement the Thanksgiving Story. Having to select all the feathers, encourages more participation from the audience. The only drawback I have found is that once a subject is taken, the next person must make another choice of feather/subject.
