We were in Panama at the time. We had just finished our Sunday worship time and Bible study. The time of our departure from Panama was at hand. We were rejoicing about what God had accomplished for us in our Panama-Mission Trip, when one of the parents asked that all the children’s-ministry team gather for a moment to pray for their leader, me. I had previously told them that I might be going to India in a few weeks. So the children’s ministry team (we have worked together for two years) gathered around and they laid their hands on me and began to fervently pray for me, and my upcoming India trip.

• India Kid-Mission Report

Well, I am home from India. What a Kid Mission trip! I was gone 17 days. I traveled 25,000 miles by plane and rented vehicles. In eleven days, I spoke over 30 times in organized meetings (excluding the travel days). I spoke to over 4,000 children. I had such an adventurous time seeing such a diverse county like India. I am sure it will impact me for years to come.

My Kid Mission really turned out to be two trips in one. The first was with C.V. (Chako Vadanana) traveling to four states: Maharashta, Gujarat, Kerala, Andra Pradesh, and the other state was Tamil Nadu with Noah Jebaraj in Aruppukottai.

• Indian Village Needs A Finished Church

Posted by: kidhelper on Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Three years ago in India, the village chief heard about Jesus and decided that he himself and all his people should become followers of Jesus. So the Sathyam Ministries helped with the conversion of all 120 members of the tribe, including the children. What followed was an effort to build this tribal group a church. It has taken some time and progress has been constant, but slow. On my trip to Vizag, we were able to visit this nearby rual village. We drove up to this very poor village for an “impromptu” roadside visit. Most of their homes looked like this one.

Many there quickly recognized C.V. (the Missionary Evangelist and Leader of Sathyam Ministies that I was traveling with) as we got out of the car and walked around. Then children gathered around. Then we were soon swamped with very happy children.

• Celebrating 41 Years of Marriage

My wife and I celebrated our 41st Wedding Anniversary over Labor Day weekend. We could not think of a better way to celebrate than to have our children and their mates with us for the weekend. So we planned ahead and they all came to be with us. What a great time we had: talking, sharing, eating, shopping and just spending quality time together. It was such a treat to enjoy our grown children taking turns with the meals and clean up, participating the good discussions and just having fun together. Lots of laughs! After it was all over…

Sharon and Barney Kinard have four children. We are thankful that each of our children and their mates know the Lord and they are active in their respective churches. Now that our children are grown, family gatherings have become really special events for us (and we get to see the six grand kids). This photo was taken at Ken’s house last fall.

• What is a Kid Mission?

Posted by: kidhelper on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

A Kid Mission is a short-term missionary trip to some foreign land (other than the U.S) where the ministry emphasis is strategically focused upon children. For me it is a partnership. I look for a team who can be trained and prepared to share the gospel using creative methods. We are trying to share our light in darker places, using existing in-country ministries and missionaries to allow for more natural and maximum follow-up. A Kid Mission is not “child’s play,” or a “vacation.”

• Welcome to the Kidhelper Web/Blog

Welcome to my new website and blog. I am Rev. Barney Kinard, aka, the Kidhelper. My children’s ministry is called Creative Children’s Ministry. I have been involved with children’s ministry for over 40 years. I am passionate about the evangelism of children not only in the United States, but also in other lands.

My purpose is to creatively evangelize children and help others to do the same. The Lord has put the children of the world in my heart and those leaders who minister to children. I believe that ministering to the spiritual needs of children is a high calling, so we are committed to helping leaders who want to reach and teach children.

My Kidhelper blog will attempt to document and illustrate our creative ministry to kids and provide inspiration and resources for leaders who minister to children. I would encourage you to come back and visit us again. Barney
